Zoya Sunshine Collection Swatches & Review

Zoya Sunshine collection

Hello readers,
Today I have the Zoya Sunshine collection for summer 2018 to share with you. This collection features a mix of cremes and shimmers along with a couple sparkly toppers. Let's take a look at swatches.

Missy

Zoya MissyZoya Sunshine

Missy is a bubblegum pink creme. The formula was pigmented though a little patchy. Two coats, floating the brush on the second, were needed for full coverage. Though this dries shiny, I do recommend top coat to get a nice smooth finish. Photos show two coats of Missy with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Minnie

Zoya MinnieZoya Sunshine

Minnie is a pink leaning salmon creme. The formula was similar to that of Missy. Two coats were need for full coverage and I found that floating the brush slightly on the second coat helped give me an even finish. Photos show two coats of Minne with one coat of Girly Bits Cosmetics Glitter Glaze top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Clementine

Zoya ClementineZoya Sunshine

Clementine features a salmon base with a fine flecked copper shimmer. The formula was easy to work with though a tad sheer taking three coats for full coverage. The slightly sheer base does allow the shimmer to show through thought which is lovely. Jack

Zoya JackZoya Sunshine

Jack is a light almond creme. The formula was easy to apply though I recommend waiting a little bit longer between coats to avoid dragging. Two coats were needed for full coverage and this shade dries to a shiny finish. Photos show two coats of Jack with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Marigold

Zoya MarigoldZoya Sunshine

Marigold is a bright saturated orange jelly base with a strong gold flecked shimmer. The formula was excellent and super easy to apply. I used three coats here, but if you have shorter nails or a less distinct nail line two would likely be enough. Photos show three coats of Marigold with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Virginia

Zoya VirginiaZoya Sunshine

Virginia is a bright red leaning orange creme. The formula was very easy to work with and took two thin coats for full coverage. This one dries with a slightly squishy finish which I love. Saldana

Zoya SaldanaZoya Sunshine

Saldana features a mix of blue and violet flecked shimmer with a sprinkling of blue hex glitters in a clear base. The formula was easy to apply though you'll have to fish for the glitters if you want more than one or two on each nail. I also found that some of the larger hex glitters had a little bit of curl to them so you'll want to add top coat over top to smooth everything out. Photos show one coat of Saldana over Delia with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Karen

Zoya KarenZoya Sunshine

Karen is a bright orange leaning red creme. The formula was excellent taking two thin coats for full coverage. This dries shiny on its own but I added top coat out of habit. Photos show two coats of Karen with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Nahla

Zoya NahlaZoya Sunshine

Nahla features a mix of gold, silver and violet flecked shimmer with a sprinkling of gold hex glitters in a clear base. The formula was easy to apply though, and didn't have the slightly curled glitters like Saldana. The flecked shimmer was also gave a lot more coverage than I expected, so you might be able to layer this shade up on its own to a decent amount coverage. Photos show one coat of Nahla over Karen with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Conclusion

I think your feelings about this collection really depend on your personal colour preferences. If you go for pinks and reds then this has tons of options for you. If, like me, you're more drawn to blues, purples and teals then this collection feels lacking. For a 12 shade collection, I think there was room for a little more colour variety. The Thrive Collection is available now. You can find Zoya on

Happy polishing,

Michelle
