Hello readers,
I'm back with round two of going through my untried Tonic Polishes since I still had lots left after my first round. Let's take look at swatches.
Sophia
Sophia features a light blue to purple shifting base with a strong turquoise sheen and a sprinkling of scatter holo shimmer. The formula was easy to work with and took three coats for full coverage. However, it was so close after two that for those with shorter nails or a less distinct nail line than me, two may be enough. Photos show three coats of Sophia with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Xtravaganza
Xtravaganza features a blackened jelly base filled with purple to green shifting magnetic shimmer and red to green 'unicorn pee' shimmer. It can be worn alone or as a topper so I did both here. On my index and pinky fingers I layered one magnetized coat of Xtravaganza over Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt. On my middle and fourth fingers I applied two coats of Xtravaganza normally and then magnetized the third. Photos show three coats of Xtravaganza alone, and one coat of Xtravaganze over Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt with one coat of Live Love Polish Quick Dry Top Coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Serendipity
Serendipity is a deep red-leaning purple jelly filled with red to green shifting 'unicorn pee' shimmer. The formula was easy to work with taking three coats for full coverage. This shade dries smooth and shiny on its own but I added top coat out of habit. Photos show three coats of Serendipity with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Chasing Concrete
Chasing Concrete features a pale grey crelly base filled with orange to green shifting shimmer and iridescent flakies. The formula was very easy to work and took three coats for full coverage. However, it was so close after two that if you have shorter nails or a less distinct nail line than me you may find two is enough. This dries down to a smooth matte finish. You can leave it as is or add top coat for shine. I chose to make it shiny. Photos show three coats of Chasing Concrete with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Zeppo
Zeppo feature a blackened jelly base with small violet metallic flakes and a warm purple to gold shifting magnetic shimmer. I used three coats for full coverage. The first two I applied normally and then I magnetized the third. I also used the magnet after top coat to keep the line relatively crisp. Photos show three coats of Zeppo with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Frozen Kingdom
Frozen Kingdom is a pale green to blue to purple multichrome with iridescent orange flakies and holo shimmer. The formula was easy to work with and took three coats for full coverage. This shade dries down to a satin finish with the occasional flakie divot so top coat is recommended for a perfect finish. Photos show three coats of Frozen Kingdom with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Drag Race
Drag Race Is Green To Blue To Purple multichrome with a pink to gold shifting magnetic shimmer. The formula was easy to work with. I used two coats regularly and then magnetized the third with a bar magnet. I also magnetized it again after applying top coat. Photos show three coats of Drag Race with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
For The Watch
For The Watch is a cobalt blue holo with purle and indigo metallic flakies. In shaded lighting this polish leans a little more blurple. The formula was quite pigmented and took two thin coats for full coverage. Though this dries relatively smoothly on its own, topcoat really brings this holo and flakes toghether. Photos show two coats of For The Watch with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Mahaloversary
Maholoversary features a warm purple holo base filled with small orange and purple metallic flakies. The formula was very easy to work with taking two coats for full coverage. Photos show two coats of Maholoversary with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Divine
Divine features a medium grey holo base with a purple to gold shifting magnetic shimmer. The formula was easy to work with. I applied two coats normally and then magnetized the third with a bar magnet. I also used the magnet again after applying top coat. Photos show three coats of Divine with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Ru
Ru features a medium grey holo base with a aqua to blue to purple shifting magnetic shimmer. I used three coats total. The first two I applied normally and I magnetized the third with a bar magnet. I also used the magnet again after applying top coat to keep the line as crisp as possible. Photos show three coats of Ru with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
The Best Is Yet To Come
The Best Is Yet To Come features denim blue holo base filled with small orange to green shifting iridescent flakies and a strong orange to green shifting sheen. This shade is a bit sheer on the first coat but builds up nicely in three. The slightly sheer formula really give this polish depth since the shimmer and flakies from all the coats show through. Photos show three coats of The Best Is Yet To Come with one coat of Sephora X Shine XCEL top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
