Final Thoughts

Though there were less cool toned shades in this palette, I found that colour family easier to work with because it had a full range of light, medium and dark shades. I especially appreciated Beach Ball which was a perfect option for darkening up that outer corner. In contrast, though there were a lot of warm shades in the mix, I struggled when putting together warmer toned looks.

The lack of a darker red or purple matte shade was really obvious and left me wanting more. I attempted to use Pinwheel, a deep foiled red, as an alternative in EOTD #3 but it just did not work. I also found that Sunnies did not blend out that nicely and just made things look muddy. This meant that I had to really get creative and go for warm looks that incorporated contrasting shades instead of my usual light to medium shade on the lid and complementary dark shade on the outer corner. I really wish they had swapped out at least one of Flamingos, Coral and Watermelon for a dark warm matte as the three look very similar when applied. Popsicle and Sunbathe also look quite similar when applied on the lid and I think the could have benefited from a little more differentiation.

Overall, are there some good shadows in here? Yes. Is this a palette I can regularly use on its own? No. I see myself reaching for this when I want a nice foiled lid shade, and for some light but bright mattes. However, I'll be looking to other palettes for darker mattes and transition shades to complete the look.

Happy polishing,

Michelle
