Emily de Molly December 2017 Release Swatches & Review

Emily De Molly December 2017 collection

Hello readers,
Today I have Emily De Molly's December 2017 release to share with you. This seven shade collection features everything from neutral shimmer to neon thermal. Let's take a look at swatches.

Bright Counterpart

Bright Counterpart is neon green (cold) to neon grellow (warm) thermal with a gold flecked shimmer. This is the only limited edition single batch polish of the release. The formula was a teeny bit thick but still relatively easy to work with. I found that floating my brush up the nail and aiming for a slightly thicker than usual coat made it much easier to get good coverage. I used two medium coats here. If you go for thin coats, you may need three. This dries to a waxy finish so top coat is recommended for shine. Downward Spiral

Downward Spiral is a deep blue holo with a sprinkling of iridescent flakes and a pink to green shifting shimmer. The formula was easy to work with taking two coats for full coverage. You might get the occasional flakie bump or divot, so I do recommend top coat. In bright lighting this polish looks more blue. In shaded lighting the green shimmer really comes out and makes it lean more teal. High Contrast

High Contrast features a purple (cold) to bright pink (warm) crelly base with small white flakes. The formula was very easy to work with, taking two coats for full coverage. This dries with an almost but not quite matte finish so if you want shine, you'll need to add top coat. Latent Beauty

Latent Beauty is a pale greige with a strong green shimmer. The formula was very easy to work with and took two coats for full coverage. Occasionally I catch the shimmer shifting to pink, but for the most part green is very much the predominant colour. Swimming In Circles

Swimming In Circles is a bright teal foil with a gold to green shifting flecked shimmer. The formula was really easy to work with and took two thin coats for full coverage. The green shimmer is even stronger to the eye than I was able to capture in these pictures. This dries perfectly smooth and shiny on its own but I added top coat out of habit. Tied To Mystery

Tied To Mystery features a bright fuchsia jelly base filled with iridescent flakes, small holo glitters and a strong violet shimmer. The formula was a tad thick, though I didn't have any issues with self leveling. I used two coats here for full coverage. There is the occasional bump due to the larger flakes so top coat is a good call with this one. Untapped Potential

Untapped Potential is a purple to red to copper multichrome. The formula was excellent. No issues with application and two thin coats for full coverage. This does dry shiny on its own, but you know I love my top coat. In bright lighting the polish looks predominantly purple with hints of the shift to red. In shaded lighting the shift is much strong and the copper end of the shift comes out. Conclusion

My personal favorites this month are Swimming In Circles, Latent Beauty and Untapped Potential. The December shades will be available on Monday December 18th, 2017 at 10am AEDT  on the Australian site and Sunday December 17th, 2017 at 6pm EST on the US and international site. All of these polishes will be around for a while except Bright Counterpart. The neon pigment used is no longer available, so this is a one batch polish. Once it's sold out, it's gone for good. You can find Emily de Molly on

Happy polishing,

Michelle
