Hello Waffle Cosmetics Visage August 2016 Swatches & Review

Hello Waffle Visage August 2016

Hello readers,
August's Hello Waffle Visage box has arrived! This month is inspired by A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespear. I haven't personally read this play but based on the names this month I'm guessing their are a lot of mystical creatures involved. Last month featured a very neutral palette. This month switched things up with some more colour. Bring on the icy jewel tones!

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Helena Eyeshadow

Hello Waffle Visage Review

In the jar Helena looks like a grey with violet sparkles. However, once you put it on the grey disappears and a pale lilac with a super strong violet sheen comes to life. The formula was a tad sheer, though it can be built up. I think this would look great layered over other shades.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics King Of The Fairies Eyeshadow

Hello Waffle Visage Review

King Of The Fairies is a deep navy leaning charcoal with flecks of green and violet. This shade has a good formula with a shimmery metallic finish.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Love In Idleness Eyeshadow

Hello Waffle Visage Review

Love In Idleness is a medium steely blue with a hint of sparkle. This one has a shiny finish without being glittery (if that makes any sense). The formula was very pigmented and easy to work with.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Queen Of The Amazons Blush

Hello Waffle Visage Review

Queen Of The Amazons is a very pale lilac with a bright green shimmer. On it's own it can be blended out to a very sheer subtle finish like in the swatch below. I also tried it over Hello Waffle's Enchantment glitter adhesive and it turned into an opaque lilac with a strong green duochromey shift. Personally I think this falls more into the highlighter category rather than blush. It's definitely a very unique addition to my collection.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics The Light Of The Moon Fairy Dust Overshadow

Hello Waffle Visage Review

The Light Of The Moon is a super sparkly teal. I see flecks of indigo, purple and gold in there too. Despite being an 'overshadow' this was really pigmented and could definitely be worn alone. Be sure to use primer with this one though as it really helps the colour come out and keep those sparkly bits glued down.

Chirp Cosmetics The Fairy Queen Lipstick

Chirp Cosmetics Lipstick

This month's guest indie was Chirp Cosmetics. I've heard good things about this Canadian brand but haven't had the chance to try them myself ... until now. Their contribution was The Fairy Queen, a sheer metallic pale pink lipstick. The lipstick bullet looks like a drier matter formula, but it's actually super creamy - like don't press it too hard against your lips when applying or you might smoosh it creamy. It was very comfortable to wear but does transfer rather quickly due to that super creamy formula. I think this would also look awesome layered over a darker vampy shade. Shimmery pink over a deep berry? Aw yesss.

Conclusion

I wasn't really feeling last months super neutral warm tones but this month totally makes up for it. I do love my jewel tones and this was full of them. My personal favorite item is The Light of The Moon overshadow but I can see myself using every single item included this month. You can find Hello Waffle Cosmetics on:

Happy polishing,

Michelle
