Hello readers,
Today I have the long awaited Unicorn Pee Collection from Girly Bits Cosmetics to share with you. For those that don't know 'unicorn pee' is an elusive glowing shifting shimmer pigment that is no longer available for purchase by the public. Girly Bits has used some of their remaining UP pigment stock to release this collection which features a mix of toppers and stand alone shades. Let's take a look at swatches.
Original Gangsta
Original Gangsta is a sheer warm purple jelly with copper to red to green UP shimmer. This is meant to be worn as a topper over a base colour. I used one coat over Girly Bits My Peony Has A First Name. The formula was easy to work with and the tinted jelly adds a sheer wash of colour to your base colour of choice. Ur In Trouble
Ur In Trouble is a bright pink-orange jelly with copper to red to green UP shimmer. This is meant to be worn as a topper over a base colour. I chose to wear it over Petal To The Metal from the Fall 2018 Creme Collection. The formula was easy to apply and the jelly is tinted enough to add a wash of colour to the base shade. Stalk Market
Stalk Market is a teal-green jelly with copper to red to green UP shimmer. This is the third topper in this collection and is basically the teal cousin of Original Gangsta and Ur In Trouble. I chose to wear it over You Can't Handle The Spruce from the Fall 2018 Creme Collection. The formula was easy to work with and the teal jelly adds a tint to the base shade. Holy Sheet
Holy Sheet features a medium purple (cold) to medium pink (warm) thermal crelly base with copper to red to green UP shimmer. The formula was easy to work with though I recommend waiting a little extra time between coats so that you get nice even squishy full coverage. This dries down to a matte finish so add top coat if you want shine. Photos show three coats of Holy Sheet with one coat of Girly Bits Cosmetics Glitter Glaze top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
All UP In Ma Bizness
All UP In Ma Bizness features a deep teal leaning green jelly filled with iridescent and metallic flakies in pink, green and gold and lots of copper to red to green shifting UP shimmer. The formula was easy to work with taking three coats for full coverage. Like all jelly based polishes, I recommend waiting a little extra time between coats to avoid dragging and to lock those flakies in place. Going Commando
Going Commando features a blackened bronze jelly base filled with orange to green shifting iridescent flakies and lots of copper to red to green shifting UP shimmer. This had the same formula as All UP In Ma Bizness; three coats for full coverage with some extra dry time between coats. Mermacorn
Mermacorn features a rich aqua blue jelly base filled with green, blue and gold iridescent flakies and lots of gold to green shifting shimmer (the original sister pigment to UP). This one was a teeny bit more sheer than All UP In Ma Bizness and Going Commando but still reached 95% coverage in three coats. In bright direct lighting (like in these photos) my nail lines show through a tiny bit, in most lighting it looks opaque. If you have shorter nails or a less distinct nail line than me, this will definitely be full coverage for you. We Olive Pee
We Olive Pee features a light olive crelly base filled with copper to red to green shifting UP shimmer. The formula was excellent taking three easy coats for full coverage. This dries smooth and shiny on its own but I added top coat out of habit. Final Thoughts
My personal favorites of this release are Stalk Market, Mermacorn and Holy Sheet. The Unicorn Pee Collection will be available in limited quantities due to the limited nature of the UP pigment itself. The release will be split into two launches on November 10th, 2018 to try and accommodate peoples' schedules, different time zones, etc. The first will be at 12PM (noon) EST and the second will be at 9PM EST. All shades will have a purchase limit of 2 per person. You can find Girly Bits Cosmetics on
Happy polishing,
Michelle
