Hello readers,
Today I have Emily De Molly's April 2018 release to share with you. I'm pretty picky about my polishes, and this is one of those rare collections where every single shade appealed to as I took the bottles out of their boxes. Let's take a look at swatches.
Magnetic Fields
Magnetic Fields is a purple to burgundy to copper multichrome magnetic with small gold flakes. The formula was easy to work with. I used two coats here and magnetized both of them, though in hindsight, I could have probably just magnetized the second one since the formula was very pigmented. Note that the same magnet I used will be available for purchase separately from the polish in this release in case you don't already own one. Expelled From Paradise
Expelled From Paradise features a pale pink leaning purple base with a strong green sheen, small green metallic flakes and a sprinkling of tiny holo silver glitters. The formula was very pigmented and super easy to apply. I used two thin coats here, but it was so close after one that I imagine one slightly thicker coat would be enough for full coverage. Distance To The Sun
Distance To The Sun features a deep muted blue-grey (cold) to mauve-purple (warm) thermal base with a strong copper shimmer and a sprinkling of tiny silver holo glitters. The formula was very pigmented and easy to work with. Like Expelled From Paradise, this is another shade were I think you could make it a one coater if you don't go for super thin coats like I do. This shade dries to a matte finish so I recommend top coat for shine. Double Take
Double Take features a purple (cold) to aqua blue (warm) thermal base with a strong blue flecked shimmer. The formula was very easy to work with and quite pigmented. I used two coats for full coverage here. You'll think one is enough in the cold state, but you want a second for the warm state. This shade dries to a matte finish, so top coat is recommended if you want shine. Collector Of Maps
Collector Of Maps is a green leaning teal to blue to purple foiled multichrome with small blue glitters and a sprinkling of tiny silver holo glitters. The formula was very easy to work with taking two coats for full coverage. This dries shiny and metallic on its own, but I added top coat out of habit. Dreams Of Glass
Dreams Of Glass feature a pale muted purple base filled with fine flcked blue shimmer, small orange iridescent flakies and silver holo microglitters. The formula was quite easy to work with and took two coats for full coverage. This dries relatively smoothly on its own but I do recommend top coat for a perfect glossy finish. Teller Of Tales
Teller Of Tales features a deep warm purple jelly base with a strong copper shimmer, jewel toned iridescent flakies and copper holo microglitters. This shade seems sheer on the first coat, but builds up to full coverage in two. Some of the larger flakies leave slight divots when drying so top coat is recommended if you want a perfect finish. Glimpses Of Twilight
Glimpses Of Twilight features a sheer muted purple base with a strong teal-green shimmer, lots of small copper flakes and a sprinkling of copper holo microglitters. The formula was easy to work with taking two coats for full coverage. The teal shimmer is definitely the predominant colour, but you see hints of the purple base peeking through. This dries to a satin finish so I recommend top coat for shine. Photos show two coats of Glimpses Of Twilight with one coat of Lucky 13 Lacquer Elemental Ward top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
