Hello readers,
Today I have the three new shades that Girly Bits is bringing to Polish Con 2017 in NYC to share with you. The two LE shades Walking On The Wild Side and The Room Where It Happens will also be available on the Girly Bits website after the event, but the exclusive, Grand Prospect Haul, will only be available at Polish Con itself. Let's take a look at swatches.
Walk on the Wild Side
Walk On The Wild Side is inspired by the Lou Reed song of the same name. It features a bright apple red base (just like the big apple, hehe) filled with small gold flakes and a sprinkling of small holo glitters. The formula was easy to work with and took three coats to become opaque. If you have shorter nails or a less distinct nail line two would likely be enough for you. Photos show three coats of Walk On The Wild Side with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
The Room Where It Happens
The Room Where It Happens is named after a song from the musical Hamilton. This shade features a medium blue holo base with a strong pink to gold to green shifting shimmer and a sprinkling of bright red micro glitters (which at some angles look bright blue). The formula was quite easy to work with taking two coats to become opaque. This dries to a slightly uneven texture. The red glitters cause some tiny bumps which don't feel rough to the touch but are visible to the eye. I used two coats of a thinner top coat here to smooth them out completely, though I think a single coat of a thicker top coat would do the trick. ... and a couple shots in more shaded lighting so you can really see the shimmer's shift to green.
Grand Prospect Haul
Grand Prospect Haul is hard to describe in words. It starts with a clear base filled with a mix of super sparkly silver holo shimmer and microglitter. Then add heaping amounts of metallic flakes that shift from fuchsia to gold to green. The result is the amazingness you see below. The formula was a tad thick but relatively easy to work with. It was 90% opaque after two coats, but I added a third for good measure. Due to the sheer amount of glitter and flakes, this does dry a bit uneven but isn't rough to the touch. A good dose of top coat takes care of that no problem. Photos show three coats of Grand Prospect Haul with two coats of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Side note: Due to some last minute pouring my polish accidentally ended up in a blank bottle with a sticker label. The bottles for sale will have the regular printed logo like the other two polishes in this post.
... and even more pictures in more shaded lighting where the colour shifting flakies take over.
Polish Con is happening on April 29th, 2017 in NYC. Grand Prospect Haul is exclusive to the event, though quantities aren't limited in person so if you have a friend attending, they can snag one for you. Walk On The Wild Side and The Room Where It Happens will be available at the event as well. If you can't attend in person, they will also be available for sale April 30th, 2017 on the Girly Bits website. You can find Girly Bits Cosmetics on
Happy polishing,
Michelle
