Hello Waffle Cosmetics Visage April 2019 Unboxing & Swatches

Hello Waffle Visage April 2019 swatch review

Hello readers,
Today I have Hello Waffle Cosmetics' April Visage box to share with you. April's Visage box was inspired by the novel The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Brunett and features an earthy neutral palette. Let's take a look at swatches.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics A Wilderness Of Growing Things Eyeshadow

A Wilderness Of Growing Things features a pale matte minty green based with gold sparkles. This formula did not work for me. Without primer it was way too sheer. With primer it was somewhat muddy.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics The Purple Moor Eyeshadow

The Purple Moor features a matte medium mauve base with small green sparkles. I needed primer to build this one up to good coverage.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Robin Redbreast Eyeshadow

Robin Redbreast is a warm matte chocolate brown with the slightest hint of a sheen. It comes off as predominantly matte though. Note this one seemed to apply a bit darker over primer.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Eyes Like Jewels Fairie Dust

Eyes Like Jewels is a silvery grey base packed with sparks of pink and violet. The overall effect is super shiny and metallic. You're going to want to use a sticky primer with this one to keep all that sparkle in place.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics The Buried Key Blush

The Buried Key is a warm rose pink blush with a rose gold shimmer. I applied it fairly heavily here so you could see the colour but it does blend out nicely.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Full Of Lace Highlight

Full Of Lace is a pale ivory highlight with soft pink shimmer. It looks more yellow-cream in the jar but it's definitely more silvery once applied.

Shiro Cosmetics Mistress Mary, Quite Contrary Lip Gloss

Mistress Mary, Quite Contrary is a netural rosy pink lip gloss. The formula left a lot to be desired. Though it seemed fairly pigmented it was super patchy and started settling into my lip lines instantly. The photo below is the most even coverage I could get and you can see it's still super streaky. This gloss is also supposed to be scented like roses, but mine just smells musty. Not sure what happened there.

Final Thoughts

Unfortunately this month was a miss for me. Though I quite enjoyed the blush, highlight and fairie dust, the majority of the matte shadows took work to apply evenly and the lip gloss was a complete dud. I've also learned that the Visage subscription is coming to an end with May's box being the last. Hopefully it isn't a repeat of this month and ends on a high note.
