Hello readers,
For April Fools Day in 2018 Tarte posted an image of the Icy Betch palette in their tartelette form factor featuring a variety of blue, teal and green shades. People got really excited and then really disappointed when they found out it wasn't real. For April Fools 2019 Tarte released a smaller eye and cheek palette featuring predominantly blue shades with some greens and greys in the mix.

Tarte Icy Betch Eye & Cheek Palette Released 2019
The Icy Betch palette features five matte eyeshadows, three shimmer eyeshadows and one glitter eyeshadow along with a highlighter. With three different pan shapes the layout feels quite random. I wish they had gone with the tartelette form factor of the original April Fools joke. However, the price point is quite low, only $29CAD, so I can live with the smaller palette. I think they could have still made the highlighter smaller and snuck another shadow or two in there though.

First Impressions
Overall I am pleasantly surprised at how well these swatched. This is kind of a gimmick palette so I was anticipating the quality might not be as good, but turns out that wasn't the case. The light grey and the navy blue glitter took more work than the rest to build up but I was able to do so without a ton of effort. I'm also happy that the highlighter is fairly unique. I was expecting the usual white with a blue reflect considering this is a blue themed palette but instead got an interesting pale gold with murky blue grey undertones. You can find Tarte Cosmetics on
Happy polishing,
Michelle
