Brand Challenge: ILNP

ILNP swatch

Hello readers,
I decided to try something new for 2018 where at the beginning of each month I choose a brand in my collection to focus on. This doesn't mean I'll wear the brand exclusively during the month since I have all sorts of fun stuff to swatch and review for you guys, but I'll try to pick something from the brand of the month when I'm picking a polish from my stash to wear. I think this will help me rediscover some shades that are tucked away in drawers and boxes. For January I chose ILNP.

Sweet Serenade

Sweet Serenade features a dark purple to green duochrome base with tiny blue flakes. There are also hints of blue shift in shaded lighting. The formula was a tad thick (though I've had this bottle for a while so it could just be age) but well pigmented. I needed two coats for full coverage. This poish dries with a slightly less than shiny finish, so top coat does help bring everything together. Sirene (H)

ILNP Sirene HILNP Sirene H

Sirene (H) is a green to purple multichrome with a subtle holo shimmer in direct lighting. In shaded lighting it switches gears to a shift of blue, teal and purple. The formula was sheer but easy to apply. Three coats thin coats were needed for full coverage. This one is super shifty. ... and a couple more in shaded lighting so you can see the blue and turquoise come out to play. Yes, that is the same polish.

Harbour Island

Harbour Island features a sheer turquoise jelly base with a flecked holo shimmer. This is described by ILNP as a a polish that can be worn over other polishes or built to opacity. Layered over other shades? Definitely. Built up to full coverage? Not so much. I used three coats here and my nail lines are still very visible. I also found the formula quite thin in consistency and as a result I had more cuticle flooding than usual. Time In A Bottle

Time In A Bottle features a deep teal jelly base with silver metallic flakes and tiny holo flakes. The formula was easy to work with though sheer. I used three coats and still didn't get full coverage. My nail tips are still pretty obvious, which is disapointing. Long Walks features a light taupe base with a subtle scatter holo shimmer, strong copper flash and a sprinkling of gold flecks. The formula was very easy to work with taking three thin coats for full coverage. My Little Glacier (H) feature a steely blue metallic base with a subtle shift aqua and a soft scatter holo shimmer. The formula was easy to work with taking two coats for full coverage. I also didn't have any issues with brush strokes despite the metallic formula which was a very pleasant surprise. Conclusion

Overall Long Walks and Sirene (H) were my favorites of the ILNP I pulled out of my collection this month. I wanted to love Harbour Island and Time In A Bottle but the sheer formulas just did not mix with my nails. You can find it and many more on

Happy polishing,
Michelle
