Hello readers,
Today I have the Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 3 - Florals eyeshadow palette to share with you. I grabbed this when it appeared in the Sephora sale section (and it looks like it's still in stock as of this post). I was drawn in by the mix of neutrals and edgier shades. Let's take a look at swatches.
This palette features a mix of classic neural and bright shades. Most of them have a shimmery finish, but Blue Lagoon (second row down, left shade) leans a bit more sparkly and Straw Yellow (bottom row, left shade) leans more satin matte. I first tried to apply with with a large fluffier shadow brush and it just did not work. I got much better results when I switched to a shadow brush with shorter denser bristles and used a patting rather than brushing motion. All of the swatches below are over Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Conclusion
My first impressions of these shadows are a bit hit and miss. The majority of shades applied quite nicely and though some took a little extra work, I was able to build them up to a nice pigmented finish. However, Blue Lagoon ended up being more sheer than I was hoping for and Straw Yellow was much more muted when swatched than it looked in the pan. Hopefully I'll be able to get both of them to cooperate a little more when putting together some EOTD looks. You can find Make Up For Ever on
Happy polishing,
Michelle
Looks like a fab palette! Pity about the lack of pigmentation, looking forward to seeing any looks you create using it :) #bbloggersca
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at this palette for so long as it seems like a permanent piece in the Sale section! Swatches look so-so as you said. I would have liked to see the brighter colours have a bit more omph!

I know! I bought it for the bright shades that I didn't have dupes of in other palettes, but they ended up being more muted than I wished. I'm still going ot try and make this work though and hopefully put together an EOTD challenge post with it in the future.
