Hello readers,
Today I have the new collection from Mary Kay for Fall 2017 to share with you. This release includes three nail polishes, two eye color palettes and two lip suede lipsticks. Rose and plum shades dominate this color palette, which definitely fit my personal style. Let's take a look at swatches.
Rosé Nudes Eye Color Palette
The Rosé Nudes palette features a pale pink, two medium mauves and two deeper purple shades. Though they look quite shimmery in the pan they apply with more of a satin finish. The formula was quite powdery and I experienced a lot of fallout in the pan just trying to pick up the shadows with a brush. These shades had medium pigmentation and I was able to build most of them up to decent coverage over Urban Decay Primer Potion. The exception was the dark purple at the bottom of the palette, fourth shade in the swatches below, which I just couldn't get to work. There are some pretty shades in here, but using them without primer isn't an option. I can see myself using the two mauves and pale pink.

Simply Smoky Eye Color Palette
The Simply Smoky palette features a mix of blues and greys. Like the Rosé Nudes, they apply with a satin finish though they look quite shimmery in the pan. For the most part the formulas were very sheer and powdery. Even over Urban Decay Primer Potion coverage was difficult to build up. The pale grey in the center was especially bad; you can barely see it on the left side of the swatch photo below. The charcoal grey at the bottom of the palette, fourth shade in the swatches, was slightly better than the rest but still took work to build up. This one is a miss for me.

Rose Blush Lip Suede
Rose Blush is a pigmented medium rose pink with a satin finish. The colour is quite pretty, however I found the formula felt quite heavy on my lips. It also set with a tacky finish and I could fell my lips sticking whenever I pressed them together. The upside of this thicker formula is that it's less prone to transfer. I wore it for a full work day without reapplying and by the end it was still relatively intact.

Mulberry Muse Lip Suede
Mulberry Muse is a deep berry with a satin finish. It wasn't quite as pigmented as Rose Blush but I was able to achieve even coverage fairly easily. It does end up appearing a bit lighter on the lips than in the tube. This shade also had the same heavy and tacky feel on the lips as Rose Blush.

Pink Escape Nail Lacquer
Pink Escape is a pale baby pink creme. The formula was a little tricky to work with. It was prone to streaks, but also prone to dragging so I couldn't go back over a streaky spot to try and even it out. I found aiming for slightly thicker coats made application a bit easier, and top coat will be your friend to really disguise the streaks. Rosé Blush Nail Lacquer
Rosé Blush is a medium pink leaning mauve creme. The formula was easy to work with though a bit sheer. Three coats were needed for full coverage. This dries to a satin finish so I recommend a glossy top coat for shine. Violet Silk Nail Lacquer
Violet Silk is a deep smokey purple creme. No issues with the formula and it only needed two coats for full coverage. Note that this shade does dry a bit darker on the nails than it looks in the bottle, but I love a good vampy purple so I still love the colour. Like Rosé Blush, this one benefits from a glossy top coat. Photos show two coats of Violet Silk with one coat of Girly Bits Cosmetics What A Rush top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.
Conclusion
This fall collection is a mix of hits and misses. My personal picks are the Rosé Blush and Violet Silk polishes and the Rosé Nudes eye color palette. You can find Mary Kay on
