Hello readers,
I usually associate strong contrasting shimmer with indies, but when I saw this shade in a FingerPaints display while browsing at Sally's I knew I had to give it a try.
50 Shades Of Ashley features a pale purple base with a super strong green shimmer resulting in a duochrome effect. I was really disappointed to discover that the formula is really sheer. I built up four coats, and my nail line is still clearly visible. I also found it leaned a bit more pink on the nail than it did in the bottle. Phtos show four coats of 50 Shades Of Ashley with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat.
By itself, this polish is a fail for me. On a whim I looked up swatches to see whether perhaps I got a bad bottle. The answer is no, it is always this sheer. However, I did see some swatches where it was used as a topper and it looks amazing. I am going to give this shade another try over some cremes and report back with results. In the meantime you can find FingerPaints on
Happy polishing,
Michelle
