Hello Waffle Cosmetics Visage December 2016 Unboxing & Review

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Visage January 2017 review

Hello readers,
It's Christmas in January! That is, the combination of holidays, travel and work took over my life in December, so you get swatches of Hello Waffle's December visage in January. This month's inspiration was The Elves and the Shoemaker by the Brothers Grimm. The shades feature a mix of traditional holiday colours plus a bold lip shade. Let's take a look at swatches.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Two Little Dwarfs Eyeshadow

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Two Little Dwarfs

Two Little Dwarfs is a soft shimmery olive green. I definitely recommend using this with a primer to bring out the shimmer. Without primer it blends to more of a murky olive.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Not One False Stitch Eyeshadow

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Not One False Stitch

Not One False Stitch is a sheer matte cranberry red. It did take a bit of work to build it up to the pigmentation in the swatch below. This one is probably best used layered with other shades.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics As Quick As Lightning Fairydust Overshadow

Hello Waffle Cosmetics As Quick As Lighting

As Quick As Lightning is a bright gold shimmer with sparkling gold flecks. As far as Fairydust Overshadows go, this is on the less sparkly end. It was also quite pigmented and could definitely worn alone or layered.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Behind A Curtain Lip Colour

Hello Waffle Cosmetics Behind A Curtain

Behind A Curtain is a medium berry. The description says it has a golden shimmer, but I didn't find that showed on the lips. The formula was very creamy which made application difficult when trying to get an even lip line. I also experienced some feathering right away, so I definitely recommend a lip liner with this shade. While I love the colour, I wish the formula was less creamy and easier to work with.

Squash Beauty Ellie Liquid Blush

Squash beauty liquid blush

This month's guest indie is Squash Beauty. Their liquid blush Ellie is a deep warm berry with a soft sparkle. In the swatch below I patted the blush on with my fingertip to an even finish. It could definitely be blended out more for a softer look. I'm not quite sure how I feel about liquid format in the dropper bottle packaging. It's difficult to control the amount of product applied, and I have a feeling that as the bottle empties there may be blush stuck to the sides and at the bottom that the dropper can't get to. I'll have to play around with this one and see if I can get the liquid format to work for me.

Conclusion

This month's box was a bit of a miss for me. The eyeshadow shades aren't ones I see myself reaching for, with perhaps the exception of As Quick As Lighting. I loved the lip colour but the formula was finicky and the blush will take some experimenting with to see if it works for me. You can find Hello Waffle Cosmetics on
