The last polish I have for you from The Lady Varnishes is The Second Chance Romancer (Captain Wentworth) from the Brooding Boys Collection.  Whenever I get a choice of what colours to review I always try to choose one that's a bit out of my comfort zone.  Captain Wentworth was that polish because I'm not usually drawn to copper coloured anything.  Because of this I was expecting this to be the polish I liked least out of all the ones I got to try.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I like all of them... but there's always one you like best.   However, when I actually put this polish on my prediction got flipped upside down.  I love this polish!! It's super unique and I think it my be my favorite from the four I tried.

Ok, back to actual polish itself.  The Second Chance Romancer (Captain Wentworth) is a navy blue jelly with a subtle copper shimmer and two sized of iridescent copper hex glitter.  Despite being a jelly it is highly pigmented and goes opaque in 2-3 coats.  The bottle needed a good shake before I started to get the glitter off the bottom and mixed throughout the polish.  The formula was easy to work with and it dried smoothly.  I did have to do a little dabbing to get the largest copper hexes where I wanted them.

The pictures show two coats of The Second Chance Romancer (Captain Wentworth) with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.  I love how much depth this polish has without having to apply a ton of coats.  Want a bottle of your very own?  Check out her Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLadyVarnishes.  What do you think of this polish?  Has it changed your mind about copper like it did mine?

The Lady Varnishes Mr. Rochester

More purple polish! Today I tried  The Lady Varnishes Mr. Rochester.  This polish has a grapey purple base filled with silver shimmer and two sizes of silver iridescent hex glitter.

It took a good shake to get the larger hex glitters off the bottom but I only had to do this once.  The formula was easy to apply.  I found that I did have to fiddle a bit with the largest hex glitter to get them where I wanted since they were easily picked up by the brush and often got dragged to the top of the nail.  It didn't add much extra time though so I didn't mind.  It took three thin coats to get opaque and dried very smoothly.

The pictures show three coats of Mr. Rochester with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat.  The purple base of the polish is just slightly lighter in person that the swatch photos show.  No matter what I tried I could not get my camera to capture the colour on my nails properly.  However, the colour shown in the bottle pictures is accurate.  It looks exactly the same on your nails.

I love the depth that the silver shimmer adds to this polish.  The Lady Varnishes has this skill mastered.  If you want a bottle of your very own check out her Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLadyVarnishes.  What do you think of Mr. Rochester?

The Lady Varnishes Fantastic Matted

If you've been reading my posts over the last couple weeks you've probably figured out that I've fallen in love with matte glitter.  Obviously I had to try it with Fantastic too.  It's like there are little deep space galaxies on my nails.  I just added a coat of Julep Matte Top Coat over the Fantastic and Raven King Duochrome mani I already had on.  The pictures were taken in natural sunlight.  My love affair with matte glitter continues!

In general my favorite polish colours are darker jewel tones so when I saw Fantastic (The Ninth Doctor) from the Bigger on the Inside collection I might have drooled a little bit.  Fantastic is a black jelly polish filled with silver micro glitter small green glitter and medium blue, fuchsia and black hex glitter.  The listing calls the fuchsia glitter 'maroon' but in my opinion it's more pink than red.

Considering how much larger glitter there is in this polish it actually applied very easily.  I didn't need to use the dabbing method to get the larger glitters fairly evenly distributed on each nail.  The pictures all show one coat of Fantastic over The Lady Varnishes Raven King Duochrome (a very dark blurple) with one coat of Gelous as a top coat in natural sunlight.

There were a couple nails where I could have potentially used a second layer of top coat due to the placement of the largest black hex glitters.  I can still feel their edges a little bit in some places.  They aren't curling.  This is just due to their size.  Unless you are super picking about have a 100% flawless glass sheen at every angle though one coat of Gelous is enough.

Overall, I love this polish! How could I not?  It pretty much contains all my favorite colours.  If you love it too you can get a bottle of your very own from her Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLadyVarnishes.  What do you think of this glitter combination?

The Lady Varnishes Raven King Duochrome

Disclaimer:  These polishes were offered at a reduced price or at no charge to manicuremanifesto.com in exchange for published reviews.  All reviews are fair, honest and reflect my personal opinion.

Today I decided to back to my favorite family of polish colours, dark jewel tones.  The LadyVarnishes has two polishes call Raven King in her shop.  One is a holographic polish and one is a duochrome.  I decided to try to the duochrome version.  Raven King is a dark shimmery blurple with a green micro fleck glitter.  The results is a deep shimmer that really comes to life in sunlight.  The polish shifts between purple and blue depending on lighting and the angle you look at it.  The formula was great.  It was easy to work with and took two coats to get opaque.  It dries to a satin finish so if you want a really glossy look you'll just need to use a shiny top coat.  All pictures show two coats of Raven King with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.

This a great polish if you love darker colours like me.  I might toss a matte top coat on this later and see how the shimmer shines through.  If you like what you see you can get your very own bottle from her Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLadyVarnishes.  What do you think of this polish?

Indies! The Lady Varnishes Castle Beyond the Goblin City

Castle Beyond the Goblin City from the You Have No Power Over Me collection is a charcoal grey almost opaque jelly polish.  It features green microglitter and larger silver and teal hex glitter.  I love this colour combo.  The green micro glitter really pops under natural sunlight.  You can also choose to have a scent added to the polish.  I chose mint and I can definitely still smell it even through the top coat.

The pictures above feature two coats of Castle Beyond the Goblin City with two coats of CND Super Shiney top coat.  This polish is a thicker polish so it takes a little bit of extra work to get it  on evenly.  However, any minor bumps due to the polish's thickness were easily evened out by the top coat to give it a nice smooth finish.  I may add a little bit of nail polish thinner to mine in the future to make application easier.  Want a bottle of your very own?  Check out her etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLadyVarnishes.

Update: I added a little nail polish thinner to this polish and now the application is easy and flawless.
