Black And Teal Swirl Nail Stamping
Hello readers,
Today I have some nail are to show you that I wore to not one, but two weddings this past weekend! (It was slightly exhausting :P ). I started out with a base of Girly Bits Mint-al Precesion topped with one coat of Pahlish The Wayfarer. Then I used China Glaze Liquid Leather and Pueen Plate SE03B to stamp on the black swirl design. Finally I sealed everything up with a coat of Seche Vite. Photos show the above mani in daylight spectrum lighting.

Pahlish Electrique Swatches & Review
Hello readers,
Today I have one of the polish from my most recent Pahlish
Electrique is a grape-ey purple crelly base with lots of gold microflakes. The formula was easy to work with. It went opaque in two coats and dried quite quickly. It does dry to a matte finish so if you want a glossy finish (like I did) you'll need to add a glossy top coat. I really like that this polish isn't overly complicated but is still a little more than a basic creme. Photos show two coats of Electrique with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural lighting.
You can find Pahlish on
Happy polishing,
-Michelle

A Pair of Purple Polishes
Hello everyone! I've been busy swatching away for some picture heavy future posts but I did have the chance to pull a couple of untrieds out my collection and finally test them out. Dark purple is a great fall colour and here are a couple of polishes that fit that theme perfectly.
Who doesn't love a flecked polish? This is one of my favorite polishes finishes so this polish immediately appealed to me. It features a rich plum crelly base packed with tiny purple flecks, tiny purple and blue hexes and a sprinkling of small pink and silver squares. It took me two coats for it to become opaque. Because of all the glitter it did dry a bit rough so I just used a thicker top coat to smooth everything out.
Photos show two coats of Pink Roses And Red Valentine Lace with one coat of Seche Vite in natural lighting. This is a really rich colour and looks very pretty. I found the formula a little bit thick BUT this could possibly be due to my polish storage spot being a little bit cool and me not having the patience to wait for the bottle to warm up a little before applying it. As pretty as this polish is, sometimes you just crave a little more sparkle so I added another glittery polish over top to make it really shine.
Shrieking violet features a purple jelly base packed with tiny hexes and small squares in a variety of silver, purple and blue. The squares really catch the light nicely. I added one coat over the mani pictured above. I did find that it dried a little bit gritty so again I just added a thick top coat to smooth things out.
I love the end result. It's dark but bright at the same time and it has that jewel tone purple that I just love. Which of these too looks do you prefer? Darker with a more subdued flecked shimmer or a little brighter with more sparkle and shine?

Neutrals With A Twist
I love my teal, blue and purple polishes but sometimes there are events that call for something a little more subdued. However, subdued doesn't have to be boring! This is where the polish family I call "neutrals with a twist" comes into play. These polishes feature colours that we associate that we associate with the most neutral looks... nudes, beiges, tans, but they still have personality. Here are four polishes that I think fit this category perfectly.
C.P.A. features a shimmery tan base full of microflakes that shift from green to pink. In some lighting the shimmery tan is the dominant colour but in others the green flakes seem to glow. Alter Ego Nail Enamel makes their polish base from scratch so the formula is different than most polishes. It is a bit thicker and dries really quickly. It also dries to a waxy finish so if you want a nice glossy sheen you just need to add a top coat. The below photos show three coats of C.P.A. with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.
Beautiful Little Fool is a nude creme base filled with gold glitter in a variety of shapes and sizes. It was fully opaque after three coats but if you wanted you could get away with two. I did find that this did dry a little rough so I used a thicker topcoat to smooth things out. The creamy nude base is definitely the dominant colour in this polish but the gold glitter add some character. Photos show three coats of Beautiful Little Fool with one coat of Gelous in natural sunlight.
King Of Karat Flowers is probably a little more 'twist' than 'neutral' but I do think it still fits into this category becuase it has a base that falls somewhere between tan and grey. It is packed with yellow, gold and lavender glitters in all a variety of shapes and sizes. Despite all the glitter the formula was reasonably easy to work with and I didn't need to do any dabbing. It took two coats to become opaque. Even though there is a high concentration of glitter it doesn't give your nails that 'disco ball' look which also lends itself to the neutrals with a twist category. Photos show two coats of King Of Carat Flowers with one coat of Gelous and one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.
Golden snitch is a nude crelly base packed with golden shimmer and multiple sizes of gold hex glitter. You might be thinking to yourself that Golden Snitch looks a lot like Beautiful Little Fool, and in the bottle they do look very similar. However, their formulas are quite different and they applied very differently. Beautiful Little Fool is much creamier and has a less golden shimmer. Golden Snitch is more sheer and more shimmery. It applies evenly in a single coat so if you want an even more subtle look you can just use one coat to add a sheer shimmer to your nails. I personally preferred the Lucky 13 Lacquer formula as it was a bit easier to apply and dried more smoothly. Photos show three coats of Golden Snitch with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.
There you have it. Four polishes that blend in and stand out all a the same time. If there's one that caught your eye check out the following sites to get some of your very own.
