Brand Challenge: Great Lakes Lacquer

Great Lakes Lacquer Review

Hello readers,
Today I have all the shades from my recent Great Lakes Lacquer order to share with you. Let's take a look at swatches.

Pictured Rocks

Pictured Rocks features a cerulean blue tinted base filled with turquoise shimmer and tons of turquoise to  purple shifting iridescent flakies. The formula was easy to work with, though waiting a little extra time between coats is recommended for best coverage. I used three coats here. Photos show three coats of Pictured Rocks with one coat of Seche Vite top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends features a medium purple crelly base filled with shifting iridescent flakies in shades of orange, gold and green along with a sprinkling of scatter holo shimmer. The formula was very easy to work with. It was full coverage in two coats but I added a third here for even more flakies. UP Star Gazing

Great Lakes Lacquer UP Star GazingGreat Lakes Lacquer UP Star Gazing review

UP Star Gazing is a velvety silver holo featuring a mix of holo shimmer and flecks. The formula was excellent and surprisingly pigmented for such a light shade. I used two coats for full coverage here. It does dry down to a satin finish so top coat is recommended for shine and to get the most out of the holo finish. Resolve

Great Lakes Lacquer ResolveGreat Lakes Lacquer Resolve review

Resolve features a clear base packed with teal-green to purple to magenta shifting microglitters and tiny silver holo flecks. The formula was a touch thick, not surprising considering this is full of glitter. It was relatively easy to apply on the condition that you give the previous coat time to dry down. Otherwise it is susceptible to dragging. I was pleasantly surprised that it dried down without a ton of texture. A single coat of top coat was enough for a smooth finish. Malibu Barbie features a pale aqua base filled with green to violet shifting shimmer and a sprinkling of scatter holo shimmer. The formula started out a bit sheer on the first coat but built up nicely in three. Photos show three coats of Malibu Barbie with one coat of Seche Vite topcoat in daylight spectrum lighting.

HOMES

HOMES ~ The Great Ones features a clear base packed with blue shimmer, holo shimmer and flakes and shifty metallic flakies in shades of green, blue and pink. The formula was very easy to work with and took two coats for full coverage. It dries down with some minor texture but nothing top coat can't take care of. Lake Erie: Revisited features a deep shimmery indigo base filled with tiny black to red shifting flakes and scatter holo shimmer. The formula was easy to apply. I used three coats here for full coverage but it was very close after two so that may be enough for some. Photos show three coats of Lake Erie: Revisited with one coat of Seche Vite topcoat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Lake Superior: Revisited features a pale blue-green base filled with a strong red to gold to green shifting shimmer and a sprinkling of tiny silver holo flecks. The formula was easy to apply though I strongly recommend waiting extra time between coats to avoid creating sheer spots.
