China Glaze Sleeping Under The Stars Swatches & Review

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Collection

Hello readers,
Today I have one of the polishes from China Glaze's Fall 2015 Collection, The Great Outdoors, to show you.

Sleeping Under The Stars Features a dark smoky blue base with a subtle red shimmer. The formula was very easy to work with and very pigmented. This only took one coat to become opaque. It was the shimmer that really attracted me to this polish but unfortunately it is much stronger in the bottle than on the nail. In very bright sunlight it does come out a little bit, but in most lighting this polish looks like a straight up creme. Since it is such a pigmented polish, the acetone trick (add one more coat after opaque, wait to dry, drag sponge with remover lightly up nail) would probably work well to bring out the shimmer but I haven't tried it on this polish yet. I'm also betting this would make a great stamping polish. Photos show one coat of Sleeping Under The Stars with one coat of Essence Gel-Look top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

  1. This is one of my favorites from the collection...I can't wait to try it! Did you happen to have any staining when you were swatching it?

    1. I did not. :) I used one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter A Peel, and then a coat of CND Super Stick as my base.

  2. You have GORGEOUS nails !! Was wondering if this is anything like Chanel Paradoxal? (or it's dupes?)

    1. Thank you! :)

I don't own Chanel Paradoxal, but based on some swatch googling, I can say that they are quite different. The Chanel appears to lean much more taupey-purple with a stronger shimmer, where as Sleeping Under The Stars is much closer to a navy blue with a weak shimmer.

If I had to pick a polish from my collection that's closer to the Chanel I think Elevation Polish Khongoryn Els (http://www.thelazylaquerista.com/2015/05/elevation-polish-khongoryn-els-swatches.html) has a lot of similarities.
