Girly Bits Cosmetics Chrysalis Swatches & Review

Polish Pickup swatch

Hello readers,
Today I have Girly Bits Cosmetics' contribution to Polish Pickup's September release to share with you. This month's collection is inspired by fall foliage. If you haven't heard of Polish Pickup before, here's how it works. Several makers come together for each release and contribute a shade inspired by a common theme. Instead of having to purchase an entire curated box, Polish Pickup allows you to pick and choose the shades that appeal to you.

Chrysalis was inspired the chrysalis of the monarch butterfly. Southern Ontario (where both GB and I are from) is on the monarch's fall migratory path. I have yet to spot a monarch chrysalis in person myself, but Pam of Girly Bits has and was drawn to the soft shades of green and blue mixed with gold and black accents. The polish itself has a lot going on. An almost metallic pale green base is filled with flecked holo shimmer, small holo lime green glitters, metallic flakies in shades of copper, blue and green, and flashes of gold. Due to the sheer amount of stuff in there, I was expecting a thicker formula or perhaps a textured finish to deal with, but no. The formula was amazing, taking two easy thin coats to reach full coverage. It dried smoothly and I just added top coat for extra shine. Photos show two coats of Chrysalis with one coat of Girly Bits Glitter Glaze top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

... and a couple more in slightly shaded lighting so you can see the flakies a bit better.

Even if green isn't one of those colours you find yourself reaching for, you need this. I don't think I own anything else like it and the excellent formula is a bonus. Chrysalis, along with all the other Fall Foliage inspired polishes, will be available for pre-order on the Polish Pickup website for four days beginning September 1st, 2017 at 11AM EDT.
