Today I have one of Bite Beauty's holiday sets for 2016 to share with you. The Best Bite Redux set features four bold and bright shades of their Matte Creme Lip Crayon in a mirrored tin. These lip crayons are 60% of full-size and give you the chance to try out some new colours without breaking the bank.
Orchid is a bright violet creme. The formula was very pigmented and I didn't have any issues with application. This shade felt comfortable on the lips but wasn't so creamy that it smudged easily. Though this is described as matte, I would say it has more of a satin finish.
Fraise is a bright true red. It had the same formula as Orchid. Highly pigmented, easy to apply and comfortable on the lips. Again I would describe this as more of a satin finish than a matte finish.
Red Velvet is a medium red with slightly cool undertones. It is a bit darker and slightly more muted than Fraise. The formula and finish were comparable to Fraise and Orchid.
Truffle is a deep vampy burgundy. I really wanted to love this shade but the formula was a let down. Truffle was significantly less pigmented than the other three colours in this set, which resulted in patchy application and obvious settling in my lip lines. I also has a harder time getting a crisp line at the edges of my lips than I did with the others. The finish was shinier than Orchid, Fraise and Red Velvet. Though this shade had potential in the tube, on the lips it was a letdown. In the future I'm definitely going to have to use primer and clear lip liner with this one.
At $25USD/$29CAD the value is good enough on this set that even though I only see myself wearing three of the four shades regularly, I'm still saving money compared to their regular price. If you have a Bite Beauty lover on your gift list, especially if red is their colour, this could be a good option. You can find Bite Beauty on
