Lucky 13 Lacquer Pop & Peel Basecoat Review

Peel off basecoat review

Hello readers,
Today I have a new peel off base coat to share with you.  Glitter polish looks amazing but can require copious amounts of remover and time to remove.  Peel off base coats give the option of having a sparkly mani for a couple of days and then just simply peel it off.  Lucky 13 Lacquer's offering to make glitter easy to remove is Pop & Peel.

The main difference I noticed between Pop & Peel and other similar products is that the removal instructions specifically instructed you to soak your fingers in warm water before peeling.  I tested this base coat out with the mani shown above.  I applied one coat of Pop & Peel and let it dry completely.  Then I completed my mani as usual; one coat of CND Super Sticky, three coats of Femme Fatale Cosmetics Crystals From Clouds, one coat of Gelous and one coat of Girly Bits Cosmetics Glitter Glaze to seal everything up.  I was careful to wrap my nail tips with top coat to extend the life of this polish.

I wore this for two and a half days in total.  Half way through the second day I experience a tiny bit of lifting on one of my index fingers and a small chip on one thumb.  Overall I was quite happy with the lasting power of this base coat as I've had others that popped of unintentionally a day in.  After two and a half days I peeled off the polish at the end of a hot shower.  The picture below is right after removal.  There was the odd bit of base coat residue left but a quick swipe of acetone cleaned that up.  I didn't experience any noticeable damage to my nail surface.

One thing to note is the colour of my Pop & Peel faded from green to clear.  I'm not quite sure what caused it.  It did sit in an area exposed to sunlight for a few days which may have been the culprit.  This fading doesn't seem to have affected the functionality in any way though so I'm not concerned.

Though this peel off basecoat takes a little extra effort to remove due to soaking requirements, I did get longer wear time with it so I think it's definitely worth it.  This will be my go to for glitter manis that I want to wear for more than a day.  Pop & Peel is available now in the Lucky 13 Lacquer shop.  You can find Lucky 13 Lacquer on:

Happy polishing,

  1. Have you tried Unt or Dance Legend Clear Peel off base ? I usually get less than 24 hours from those two, would love to find one I can get about 2 days

    1. I haven't tried the Dance Legend one, but I have tried the UNT peel off one. I too can get a day, day and a half with UNT before I get noticeable unintended peeling. The differentiating factor for L13L's Pop & Peel is the soaking in warm water requirement. For me this translated to it being less likely to start peeling until normal wear conditions.

In the future if I'm only looking to get a day out of a mani, I think I'll stick with UNT just because it is easier to remove. However, if I want more than a day then I'll go with L13L since I found it wore longer and still peeled off well. You just need to invest a little more time soaking your fingertips before removing it.

      Hope that helps! :)
