OPI Starlight Collection (A Selection) Swatches & Review

Hello readers,
Today I have a selection of shades from the OPI Starlight collection to share with you.  This collection has a mix of shades and finishes.  I'm immediately drawn to the flecked shimmers and classic jewel tones.

Cosmo With A Twist

Cosmo With A Twist features a blackened purple with with large particle shimmery flecks that shift from blue to purple.  The formula was easy to work with and took two coats to become opaque.  Photos show two coats of Cosmo With A Twist with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

I'm In The Moon For Love

I'm In The Moon For Love is a medium plum shimmer.  Another decent formula but wait a couple minutes between coats as I experienced a tiny bit of dragging when I went back immediately.  It took two coats to become opaque.  Photos show two coats of I'm In The Moon For Love with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat.

Center Of The You-niverse

Center Of The You-niverse features a black base with gunmetal shimmer.  It also has these tiny black bits.  Not glitter, not grit like in a texture polish, just tiny smooth black bits.  I didn't really get why they were in there.  There weren't enough to create any sort of consistent texture.  I just ended up with random little bumps on the my nails.  I wasn't a fan of the effect so I added an extra coat of top coat to smooth them out.  Other than that the formula itself was easy to work with and took two coats to become opaque.  Photos show two coats of Center Of The You-niverse with two coats of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Infrared-y To Glow

Infrared-y To Glow features a clear base with small holo silver hexes and, well, I'm not quite sure what to call this shape... so I'm going with stunted hockey sticks, in pink and gold.  The glitter pay off was good but I did have to some dabbing to get the glitters evenly distributed on the nail.  I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of this one.  The stunted hockey sticks just don't do it for me.  Photos show one coat of Infrared-y To Glow over Center Of The You-niverse with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

By The Light Of The Moon

By The Light Of The Moon features 3 sizes of silver hex glitter in a frosty silver base.  The formula was easy to work with and became opaque in two coats.  This did dry a bit bumpy due to the glitter so I used an extra coat of top coat.  I'm not quite sure about the combo of the opaque frosty base with the glitter.  The glitter ends up making the finish look banged up and dented even when it feels smooth.  Personally I think a crelly or jelly base would have been a better fit.  Photos show two coats of By The Light Of The Moon with two coats of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Press * For Silver

Despite having 'silver' in the name, Press * For Silver is actually more of a metallic rose gold.  The formula was excellent and became opaque in two coats.  There are some brush strokes in the finish but they're not super noticeable.  Just pay a little extra attention when you're applying the polish that they are parallel with the nail for the best finish.  This polish also makes a great stamping polish.  Photos show two coats of Press * For Silver with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in daylight spectrum lighting.

Conclusion

My favorites from this collection are Cosmo With A Twist and I'm In The Moon For Love.  I'm also going to keep Press * For Silver in mind when I'm in the mood for a metallic stamping polish.  Unfortunately, for me Inrared-y To Glow and By The Light Of The Moon missed the mark.  What are your favorites from this collection?

Happy polishing,

Michelle
