Too Faced Melted French Kisses Swatches

Hello readers,
Today I have another Holiday 2015 lippy set to share with you.  The Too Faced Melted French Kisses set comes with four 0.16oz Melted Liquified Lipsticks, two of which are creme shades and two that are metallic.

I swatched these shades over bare lips using a lip brush to apply them.  I find the applicator tip on the tube just isn't precise enough for me to get clean crisp edges.  If I'm going to be wearing these all day I usually also use a clear lip liner, however I didn't do that for these swatches.

Metallic Macaron

Melted Macaroon is described as a metallic warm bright pink. Don't get freaked out by the highlighter pink shade that comes out of the tube.  This formula was fairly sheer so it became a lot more neutral and wearable on the lip.

Berry

This is the only duplicate shade from the Holiday 2014 set.  Melted Berry is described as a berry red.  The formula is very pigmented and builds to opacity easily.  I also found this one did leave a stain on my lips which means transfer isn't as noticeable as it wears through the day.

Chihuahua

Chihuahua is described as a dusty mauve but I'd call it more of a nude.  The pink undertones in the packaging were not present in the lipstick.  It is still a nice shade and had the same pigmented formula as Berry... just not quite what I was expecting.  For me this shade is just slightly lighter than my natural lip colour.

Metallic Peony

Metallic Peony is described as a metallic dusty rose.  I thought this shade was going to be way too light for my skin tone, but due to the sheer nature of the metallic formula, it ended up being very wearable.  This metallic finish isn't overly sparkly but does add a nice shimmery dimension.  I did have to work a bit to get an even layer of colour on my lips though.

Conclusion

Overall I think this set is a good deal if the shades are ones you will wear.  It retails for $25 ($32CAD) at Sephora and $25 ($35CAD) on Too Faced Cosmetics. The one drawback is if you were expecting the metallic shades to have the same opaque formula as the originals.  They are definitely much sheerer which I'm ok with but may not be for everyone.  Also, I do wish Chihuahua was a bit closer to the colour of the packaging.  Mauves are one of my favorite lip shades so this one was a bit of a let down.  Have you purchased this set?  Which shade is your favorite?

Happy polishing,

Michelle
