Tara's Talons Lacquerista Polish and I'm Michelle's Polish Swatches & Review

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Labor Day long weekend.  Today I have a new to me indie brand to show you, Tara's Talons.  She sent me two 5ml mini bottles to try out.  All of the colours offered by Tara's Talons are very limited.  I'm guessing the colours I received custom made for me based on the names - Lacquerista Polish and I'm Michelle's Polish.  Either that or she has a client base with an unusually high proportion of Michelle's.  Let's get back on track and take a look at the polish!

First up is I'm Michelle's Polish.  This polish has a pastel purple creme base with teal and pink hexes and iridescent blue square glitter.  The formula was great and went opaque after two coats.

Photos show two coats of I'm Michelle's Polish with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.  My only disappointment with this polish is that the iridescent blue glitter didn't seem to translate to the nail.  I could barely see any of them once I put the polish on.

Next up is Lacquerista Polish.  This polish is a minty green creme packed with iridescent silver hexes and teal microglitter.  While I loved the colours of this one, the formula wasn't great.  There was so much glitter that it was tough to apply evenly and it dried with quite a rough finish.

Photos show two coats of Lacquerista Polish with one coat of Gelous in natural sunlight.  Even after using a thick top coat the finish is still pretty bumpy.  I love the colours but don't like the formula on this one unfortunately.  I think having less of the larger hex glitters would have made application easier.

I'm still undecided as to whether the very limited polish model works.  In my mind the amount of product testing needed just doesn't scale up very well, but then again, I'm not a polish maker.  If you want to check out what polishes Tara has up for sale at the moment check out the Tara's Talons Etsy shop.  If you want to stay up to date with new collections and sales check out the Tara's Talons facebook page.  Time to decide what polish to try out next!

  1. I absolutely love that pink! Even with the very minimal blue showing through!

I keep thinking I need to amass an army of Barbie polishes but I just keep ending up window shopping for the perfect one.

    1. See, my favorite polish colours are blue and teal. So when I saw blue sparkles in the bottle I was excited but then I did my nails and the blue glitter just didn't show through very much. It was still a very nice polish though, especialls if you like "barbie pink". :)
