Northern Star Polish Halloween Collection Swatches & Review

Hello readers! As promised I've been swatching away the last few days so I could show you all the Northern Star Polishes I received all together in one post.  The polishes are all from the upcoming Halloween collection and feature some great fall colours.

Twisted Treat

First up is Twisted Treat.  This polish is a rich shimmery dark chocolate brown.  The formula on this was flawless and it took two coats to become opaque.  I didn't use a top coat because I wanted to show how nice of a finish this polish had on its own.

Photos show two coats of Twisted Treat with no top coat in natural sunlight.  I'm usually not a fan of brown polishes but I rather like this one.  I think it's because it more of a cool toned brown.  The shimmer is also amazing and adds real depth to the polish.

Pumpkinlicious

Next up is Pumkinlicious.  This polish is a glitter topper featuring small orange glitter and a handful of larger gold and green hexes.  The formula on this one was great as well.  I did have to do a little fishing for the larger glitters to ensure I got at least one on every nail though.  Again, I didn't add a top coat because I was amazed at how smoothly this glitter dried.

Photos show one coat of Pumkinlicious over Twisted Treat in with no top coat in natural sunlight.  I was really impressed with how smoothly this glitter dried.  My only wish would be to add some more of the larger hexes.  On my non-photo hand where I didn't bother fishing for them only 3/5 of my nails ended up with any on them.

Macabre Delight

Third in this collection is Macabre Delight.  This polish is a blurple jelly base with purple micro glitter and a variety of larger purple and green glitter.  The formula was easy to apply and I didn't have to do any dabbing to get the glitter where I wanted it, however the jelly base was quite sheer.

Photos show three coats of Macabre Delight with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in natural sunlight.  I love the colour of this polish but I wish the jelly base was more pigmented.  After three coats it wasn't anywhere close to opaque.  I think this polish would work best layered with an opaque polish.

Phantasmagoric

I was instantly in love with this polish.  First of, TEAL! Secondly, it has an amazing duochrome flecked shimmer.  I saved it to swatch last so I could leave it on for a few days.  The formula was great and easy to apply.  It became 90% opaque after three coats.  This whites of my nail tips are just peeking through.

Photos show three coats of Phantasmagoric with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat in a mix of incandescent and fluorescent lighting.  I am love with the shimmer in the polish.  I switches from teal to pink depending on the angle and lighting.  I think with four coats it would become completely opaque as well.  This is my personal favorite of these four polishes. I think it has great potential to be layered over other colours too!

There is one more polish in the Halloween collection that I didn't get the chance to review but still want you to see because it's gorgeous.  Bella Morte is a red jelly packed with glitter.  Go check out this post on Fratselarius to see it on its own and layered with another colour.  Did you see something you need to have?  This collection will be available September 15th in the Northern Star Polish Etsy Shop.  Until then you can drool over the polishes that are already listed.  I know The Lone Gunmetal and Tourmaline are calling my name.
