Glitter and Gradient Mash Up

Happy Friday readers!  I know I've been a little quiet this week.  That's because I've been playing around with nail are instead of plain old swatching.  I loved the results so much that I wanted to wear them for as long as I could before they started to chip which means I didn't have a lot of new manis to show you.  Here's what I'm talking about.

I was originally inspired by this Spotted Syrup Gradient post over on Chalkboard Nails that used cleary spotted as a topcoat over a bright gradient.  I decided to give it a try using two sheer but build-able metallic colours from Ruby White Tips - This Is My Swamp and Bay Breeze.

I started out by painting my whole nail with two coats of This Is My Swamp.  I then painted the top quarter of each nail with Bay Breeze, then the top half and finally the top three quarters. Because Bay Breeze is reasonably sheer in a single coat there isn't a clear line where This Is My Swamp ends and Bay Breeze begins.  Finally I added one coat of Maybelline Clearly Spotted and a coat of CND Super Shiney top coat.

I am in love with how this turned out!!!  I'm not taking it off until it chips.  Also, the formulas on both Ruby White Tips polishes were amazing.  Super easy to apply.  I'm guessing it would take three coats for them to become opaque.  Clearly Spotted was awesome too.  No dabbing needed and it dried quite smoothly.  Unfortunately, This Is My Swamp was a limited edition polish but if Bay Breeze is your style you can get it in the Ruby White Tips Etsy shop.  What do you think of the gradient and glitter mash up?

  1. This gradient looks so smooth! And I absolutely love it with the glitter on top!

    1. Thanks! It was all done with the regular ol' polish brush. No sponges here! Too much work :P. Sheer polishes make gradients so much easier... and the glitter helps hide any imperfections, haha.

  2. I tried it myself with some of rwt's polishes and am really proud of the results. I didn't have a glitter for the topcoat, so I used some scattered holo Laura had sent me.
